Re: [microsound] failure
to me thin sounds are sounds that dont gel - ie the music is made up
of sounds that sound separate to each other, like playing two sounds
that clearly were recorded in different types of rooms.
a lot of really old crappy acid sounds thin because of lack of
layers and the way all the instruments sound completely different.
definitely a matter of opinion.. but perhaps a differing (is that a
word?) definition..
to me thin sounds are pretty much the staple of most of the artists i
listen to... like ryoji ikeda, noto, richard chartier, kim cascone...
oval.. etc.. small little clicks, pops, sine waves and things like
that..
whatever..
