this was an old message that popped up on the list because of lagging
moderation (it was sent from my new email address before i switched it
in my microsound subscription.) i myself jumped when i saw it again. i
can be picky but i'm not _that_ anal.

take my comment with a grain of salt. i'm a collector myself, to a
point. i just don't like the tendancy to overvaluate certain recordings
for reasons unrelated to the actual quality of the music contained
therein. skam, for one, is guilty of having played that card quite a
few times.
hence perfectly good, perfectly available recordings are overlooked
because their 'collector value' is considered nil. but perhaps i shall
rephrase:
collectors with no taste kill music.
i think that would be more accurate. of course, take that one with a
grain of salt as well. no one is really 'killing music'.
