zammuto superstar + hotline/mp3

hurray!  the zammuto/willscher cd is out on a new us label, apartmentb
(or at least should be shortly).  if you haven't heard his work yet (the
unfortunately deleted _solutiore of stareau_ triple pack, probably to
become a hot collector item in the future but that's another story) then
this is the place to start.  recombined basslines, clicks for
percussion, no drones but a persistent rhythmic drive.  atonal for a
good part.  atmospheric jazz in some alien way.  anyway, it's a bit hard
to describe because it's the one of a kind type, but anyone who enjoys
autopoieses, lucky kitchen &/or the tom stuff should have a blast.

on the hotline/mp3 front, pedro monkeyfinger's 'buttbutt' is an intense
electroacoustic piece stuck in a frame of a minute & 31 seconds.  also a
very short track (56.6k users take note), cray's 'plik' throws some
fairly interesting noises into abstract spatial narrative.  also,
folder's short _131_ series has its highs for those (like me) who won't
shun at a 4/4 rhythm if it makes the track work.

of course i'm far from having listened to everything but that is one
nice place to go for those days with nothing better to spend your time
on than download.  :)
