Interesting news from Felix Kubin & Gagarin...
Hello friends of the whispering scales!
After years of silence and halluzination Hamburg's slowest yet most
sensitive record label Wachsender Prozess has released a new 12" in
co-operation with Gagarin Records:
Marc Behrens
"Lecture Feedback/Source Feedback/The Aesthetics of Censorship"
Vinyl 12" LP Wachsender Prozess / WP 05
M. Behrens is considered one of the most talented young artists in the
experimental electronic scene of Germany. His music has been released by
many national and international labels, preferably on CD format. Recently
his suspenseful, intense sound objects and compositions have been
celebrated in Tokyo and Osaka.
Back in 1992, when first parts of this record came to existence, M.
Behrens started to experiment with extreme frequencies, although less
exemplary and conscious than in his later works.
The tracks "Lecture Feedback/Source Feedback" are put together from
self-triggered feedback layers of effect processors recorded on a 4-track
machine. Short circuit noises served as impulses for the triggering.
"The Aesthetics of Censorship" was a commission work for a concert series
dealing with string instruments. Marc Behrens created a complex control
system for fast staccato attacks applied on samples. The piece has a
morbid aura including both short crackling passages and breathing loops of
mystical (dis)harmony .
In spite of the extreme and "difficult" frequencies and big dynamics we
have succeeded in getting a good vinyl pressing of this impressive music.
It's an early masterpiece of the composer that gained even more intensity
throughout the years. A strong suspense that holds the attention of the
listener on the peak is created by complex tectonic shifts of microtonal
frequency clusters.
