tortoise "djed" | gastr del rourke | love bloody nose
whoa! i just got home from chicago and partying with a few friends and i came
home to a huge e-mail box. when you started talking about the tortoise "cd
manipulation" stuff, my heart dropped.
you guys gotta get this right. the breakdown in the song "djed" has nothing
to do with cd's. john mcintyre cut apart some huge long tape (like 20 feet,
or 20 inches, or something like that) of crap that the band had recorded.
then he taped it all back together. that's how that happened.
and yes, that last dude pointed out correctly that markus popp contributed to
camofluer, *not* upgrade+afterlife. like it was said, little jimmy o'rourke
did all that tape shit himself. with a little help from some other dude, i
think. that song where he really goes crazy if so f*cked up. that album is
crazy. "strawberry fields in louiseville why did the shark watch him drown?"
and camofluer is great too. "ohio street twig and leaf.." or whatever. that
song about astroprojection.
then last but not least, jim o'rouke is f*cking insane. that early gastr
stuff is sooo out there. then "happy trails" and that guitar stuff is so
beautiful. then his crazy remixes assult. then the orchestrated pop! then the
f*cking laptop fun fest! what the f*ck!
i'm only kidding. but just don't forget about tapes. you little goof balls.
