Re: [microsound] cell phone piece

cell phone issue.

Cell phone is really big thing in japan. if you don't have a cell phone,
you're not a human. really. Now imagine. Everybody in the 400% packed
train has cell phone. Just one each, it's not south africa. To identify
their own phone ring, the companies made the cell phone "programmable".
yes, you can tune them. You can compose some music, in the tiny window
or compose them on a computer and feed them into the cell phone. Believe
or not, they have FM synth (cheap one!)

iMode is the other thing. they sold this "service" more than iMac last
year there. it's a e-mail (sort of) service, but on the cell phone. you
can send it from phone to phone. it's more like LAN, so not much charge
for it compare to it's "THE Internet capability" wow. wow. so, they can
receive messages. (the only limitation is, well, you can't have multiple
recipients -peer to peer)

Now IF we have a way to send FM synth patch to the phone and IF we can
send mails to each phone (individually is more fun, huh? some poems,
piece of messages so they can share?) THAT's some fun. you hear your
music all over the place. It's just IF and IF but hey, nothing is
impossible. at least to think of it.

So, maybe or maybe not. but certainly, this is something. I thought of
it recently. but hay, I don't even have one of those!. the cell phone
that's tiny as, well, snickers, with god damn FM synth.
