a friend and it's quite interesting... certainly not glitch, but i think it
qualifies as microsound. parker's on soprano sax and casserley plays
"signal processing instrument." it begins with long, drawn out tones on the
sax, but gradually morphs into something purely electronic, where the signal
processing obliterates the original input. reminds me of subotnick's "ghost
electronics" work. a lovely merger of acoustic & electronic. >>
also worth investigating if you're a fan of Solar Wind are:
Live At Les Instants Chavires (Leo), which is a quartet of Parker, Casserley,
Noel Akchote (guitar), and Joel Ryan (credited with "computer"). both
Casserley and Ryan do live processing on this record, and I think it's a step
forward from Solar Wind, recorded about a year later.
Secret Measures (Wobbly Rail), which is Phil Durrant processing John
Butcher's saxophone in real time, what they call their "electromanipulations"
project. also very good, although the sound quality could be better, which is
partially attributable to the concert recording. this duo is recording a
studio followup for release on my label, Erstwhile, this summer.
