quite a few labels work with the idea of a consistent style of cover art,
which sometimes is simply a result of the fact that a single artist (such as
tina frank for mego) or design firm (designers republic for warp) is
involved in the art direction for most or all projects of a specific label. >>
good point, although Tina Frank & Designers Republic actually do different
artwork for each cover, and it works well, and but and they do not use the
same design for each release which is basically what Ritornell is doing. I
was comparing it to 20-2000... but Carsten had a concept in mind not just
marketing(I'm sure some of both just giving him the benefit of the doubt.)
I'm a visual AND audio artist so the two go together for me...so I'm somewhat
biased.( so then is all this art or music? )
I was viewing what Ritornell was doing was more akin to Cleopatra plastering
the label logo larger than the band all over any release. So in effect you'e
"buying" the label not the artist.
Perhaps Ritornell has a concept or "series" in mind? and somehow these all
fit together?
