Yeah, that was cool and a pretty strong point because he lost the
rights to all his work. But the problem is that the media (through
the influence of the multibillion music industry, I suppose) make it
look like Prince is this arrogant egocentrical bastard artist who
takes himself for someone else. And that's bad. So, for those who
know more or less the issues with record companies it is a statement.
For the majority of people, thoug, this is like saying:" You see! You
shouldn't mess with people who give you contracts. Just do your job
or you'll end up like Prince"!
What I really find weird is that there are artists (I know a few
personnally) who's aim is to match the "sound" that is currently "in"
and get a deal with some relatively big record company. Well,
arguably, you can't call them "artists" but whatever.... They don't
always succeed either, but just the fact they try makes me sick.
