compassion and weather

Well, Ive sort of lurked on and off this list since its inception and the
last few debates have brought to mind a question of my own.

Having just crashed out of a (practise based) PhD due to the stupefying lack
of a response to my own work, (including work I have sent to people on this
list), I must confess that I am amazed at how much time that some of the
members of this list put into their messages..do you people sit there with
books and just spend all day picking out quotes and counter quotes, or are
some of you really so blessed that it is all inside your heads ready for
instant recall? Seriously, it would take me all day (time that until now, I
did not have ; )) to knock out the responses that I read on this list...what
are you all doing??!!!!

Ive just spent three years plowing thru theory and philosophy, attempting to
locate my own and others works within the appropriate contemporary and
historical framework that would allow me to write the thesis which would
accompany my pieces.
Im afraid, though, that for me it was indeed just another type of music (as
someone pointed out earlier), but it is a music without sound.
For me, its the sound that is the pleasure.
I love to listen to the wind...I dont really give a toss where it came from
or how it got to me...I just love the wind. If I want to find out about the
other stuff, Ill go study meteorology...it wont make a jot of difference to
the noise tho!
Thats not to demean meteorology by the way...its funny how they never get the
weather right though!
Cheers
Rob
