RE: [microsound] Composers using "glitch" need to just do it!
I didn't say you should ditch your working method or in any way compromise
the material from which you make music. I am merely speaking about the
terms. We've seen quite a bit of concern over how artists can avoid playing
into the "star system" on this list. Isn't there a discrepency between
wanting this on the one hand and encouraging glib Raygun or Spin articles by
refering to your own music as "glitch." I've never heard a band admit that
they were post rock or grunge. Call it art, call it music, call it
electronic, call it electro acoustic but why voluntarily succumb to such a
restictive term as "glitch?" The sub sub sub genre phenomenon in electronic
music confounds me (tech house, tech step, dark step, deep house, etc...).
Please someone help me understand why as an artist you would actually want
to take on such a label.

-----grip over their works and teach them to lighten up and be

-----other than the ones they may generate; and not to mention
-----thwart the ego
-----that tends to get involved with an artistic endeavor.

-----statements be damned. To quote a corporate slogan: "just do it!" (I
