sorry to be a pedant but Menander is actually in Latin (I had to study it
briefly).
But yeah, i know what you mean. I was pretty much on my own when I wanted to
write my honors thesis on how Aristophanes makes his plays funny.
Aristotles' Poetics has some interest re aesthetics. It's rather simply set
out and everything's modular so that it can be taken apart, exposed and
reassembled. The only problem is that some familiarity with Greek poetry is
presumed.
