FCMM'S MEDIA LOUNGE (Montreal)

You'll find below the program of the MEDIA LOUNGE of the MONTREAL
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF NEW MEDIA AND NEW CINEMA (FCMM), showcasing the
performances that are part of the NEW MEDIA segment of the FCMM
Other NEW MEDIA elements that are not listed below include installations,
multimedia projects and artist's presentations
The FCMM also features a wide range of Films - Features, Shorts, and
Documentaries
Also to be noted this year is a Digital Cinema section, which will include a
special forum (The Digital Age: From Cinema to New Media)

Xen years into the baking, Ninja Tune celebrates a decade of stealthy
turntable tricknology, brilliant sonic and visual digital innovation and
mindful zentertainment. With digital jockeys Coldcut who bring you their
multimedia synthesis of rhythms and images.

ELECTRONIC MANOEUVRES 	/ PERFORMANCE 9PM - 16$
	
Exploring graphic moving images and contemporary visuals from a diverse
array of non-traditional film and image makers from the UK, this evening
features digital cinema projections from the onedotzero digital cinema
festival, an exploded live documentary performance by the Light Surgeons and
the "Rewind" multimedia performance by Hexstatic.

The " live cinema " performances of People Like Us include collages of found

ROAD STORIES FOR THE FLESH-EATING FUTURE	/Video Performance 7PM - 8$
Lewis Cohen (Canada)

Multi-screen remix of a documentary on the intrusive nature of new
technologies. Inspired and driven by the work of fin-de-millennium thinkers
Arthur and Marilouise Kroker, the documentary takes us on a daring journey
through the cultural and technical nerve centers of the digital revolution.

Eltractor (Canada)

Multimedia performance about media accumulation and assault. Ingredients :
webcam excrements; messed up telework; a Hollywood empire destroyed by
digital attacks; friendly uncertain e-commerce; hijacked instruments in
extratonal noisy music; wave frequencies; first class software; a television
impregnated by new networks...

THURSDAY OCTOBER 19 

ICH TANK REMIX	/ PERFORMANCE 9PM - 8$

David Larcher has accepted the Festival's proposal to perform a live
reinterpretation of his Ich Tank remake. For this remix, he will be joined
by Patrick Zanoli, a video artist who has been editing his tapes since 1990.
Dive into a troubled sea of images and sound on multiple screens.

Thomas Brinkmann (Germany) 	
In a performance on multiple turntables, Brinkmann will use his especially
cut locked grooves records to create geometrical rhythmic patterns.  An
intimate relationship with groovy soundscapes.

RICH TASTE	/ PERFORMANCE 9PM - 16$

Multimedia and music performances signed by PERLON, one of Germany's hottest
labels these days. Pile consists of three members : Markus Nikolai
(musician), Zip (musician) and Chris Rehberger (designer/director). The
evening will host the onstage world premiere of Darren, a new project by
Markus Nikolai and Chris Rehberger.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 21 

SCAPE VS VISOMAT	/ PERFORMANCE 9PM - 16$

Urban music and creative VJing Berlin-style. The FCMM has asked Pole to put
on an evening representative of the explosion of collaborative work between
electronic musicians and VJs in Berlin. Artists from ~SCAPE, a label run by
Pole, join their forces with Visomat for a musical and visual interpretation
of urban dub.
