MP3 multi-tracking redux

Thanks much to the list for all the responses! I'm not working with Linux, 
unfortunately, but I'll check out the MAX option and see if that works for 
me. It would be nice to have a mixing app that could work in multiple 
resolutions, I'd really like to be able to turn out low kbps audio files 
directly, as opposed to popping back and forth between low and high 
resolutions... probably ending up with MP3s.

If anyone has any other thoughts, please pass them along. Thanks again for 
all the help!
