starting w/computer music

I'm interested in reading my way into the world of
computer music, as in: doing it.  This might be an
unfathomably novice question, but I'd be grateful for
tips on some books/CDRs/websites/other media that
could introduce me to making computer music; I'm
frankly not sure where to start, though I've been
eyeing the affordable introductory CDR "DSP: Making
Computer Music" put together by Joran Rudi, or
ConTempo's "Virtual Sound".  (Yes, I am a CDeMusic
junkie...)
