with journalists who know little about the history of computer music and/or
how it is made...they tend to reinforce and propagate myths based on their
lack of understanding ...
it hasn't been until the laptop became the "axe du jour" for electronic
music...

The whole "laptop musician" thing is the most ridiculous instance of the press revealing its ignorance. I mean, how exactly does a laptop differ from any other computer (other than the fact that it folds up and is easy to take to gigs)? This would be like trying to label a scene as "nord rack rockers" or something, differentiating them from people who are so uncool as to use the keyboard version rather than the hip rack mounted version. Is anyone else as perplexed by this as me?
