Re: Mic preamps
Symetrix makes some fairly nice and relatively cheap stereo mic preamps,
which might be useful.
I just joined the list, and I'm frankly surprised by the volume of
exchange....it's heartening to know that there are so many others who are
interested in these domains.
My only apprehension is that my frames of reference aren't sufficiently
obscure.
I just placed an order on some Bernard Parmegiani (Voilestries and that
Plate Lunch "Pop'electric" release), Farmers Manual, and a few of the
Metamkine mini cds (Wehowsky, Noetinger). Exciting stuff,
can't wait to hear it.
In reference to the fellow from Texas who was mentioning the developing
scene there, Bloomington Indiana is also beginning to see some action in
that department these days.
I played a show recently where I met a guy who was talking very favorably
about a composer working under the general concrete umbrella. The name he
mentioned sounded like Michelle Buchanowski. My impression was that this
composer was affiliated with Metamkine, but I haven't found any info
online. Does this name sound familiar to anyone?
I love that track on Takemura's "Scope" cd, where he takes an almost
musique concrete approach to synthesis. I think it might be "Taw," it's
got those incredibly flatulent noises going on. At any rate, it's
interesting how concrete aesthetics play themselves out in non-concrete
music....
Glad to be here!
