Re: [microsound] Review
RE; Jon and M. Z-L thought on "Matrix"
I too am listening to Iannis Xenakis 2 "La légende d' Eer"
on Auvidis Montaingne (MO 782058) and cannot find the
parallels drawn. While both feature sine waves, the
comparison may be likened to lumping all 'ambient' or
'rock' recordings as the same. Walking throughout the
listening space offers only the normal sonic anomalies from
standing waves and sound-reinforcement effects. The
"Matrix" changes , eerily I might add, in both structure
and - in some cases - rhythm. The smallest change in the
listening position will change the output dramatically. I
must agree that, sadly, it will not be as effective on
low-resolution playback.
I love the Xenakis - and have collected his works since the
late-Sixties. I also love getting feedback - positive or
else wise; so thanks Jon. Perhaps when your recording is
released we will have a chance to hear that as well.
