*0 0.000
I think this is a good question. I recently read a brief review of the new
*0 cd that said a high end set a speakers were needed to hear much of it.
Anyone have any comments on this latest disc by Nosei Sakata (sp?)? I've
enjoyed his earlier cds on 12k, Meme, and the Mu label.
nosei (*0) sent me his latest disc "0.000"
it is by far quieter than his previous work.
it begins with what one might call a "cleansing tone" of approx 1 minute.
and then what appears to be silence for the rest of the cd. then ends
with another cleansing tone (signaling the end)
tracks that appear very much silent... BUT
if one observes the monitor levels on your amp for example.. i
believe you will see the sonic activity.
this concept was also explored in his piece for the lowercase compilation.
he and i are exploring a similar theme which could perhaps be called
somthing like "deceptive silence" (hmmmmm an album title?) : )
but this cd is far far far more silent than I : ) (but perhaps it
is my hi-fi system)
anyone interested in this kind of work should also check out the
upcoming IMMEDIA cd "2|1" on LINE (sorry for the "shameless" plug but
it really works into a topic of deceptive silence/spatial silence)
