> MUTEK_NEWS #1
>
This is the first edition of the newsletter designed to bring you the latest
developments concerning MUTEK for the upcoming month.
> Following its last edition in June 2000, the MUTEK team has been busy
> organizing the new media section of the Montréal International Festival of
> New Cinema and New Media (FCMM), signing another successful MEDIA LOUNGE,
> in October 2000. With the arrival of the new year, our next challenge is
> already upon us: MUTEK 2001!
>
> NEW DATES
> This year, MUTEK 2001 will take place Wednesday May 16th to Sunday May
> 20th. A change that was deemed necessary because the Montréal Grand Prix
> is itself destined for our initial choice. The scope of that event being
> such that the entire tourist infrastructure is already immobilised, the
> new dates will thus allow MUTEK to launch Montreal's season of events.
>
> PROGRAM
> Program planning for MUTEK 2001 is already underway and will continue
> until the end of February. Our mission is to be on the cutting edge of
> innovation in the field of electronic music and sound creation and to
> provide an environment for discovery and exchange between the artists and
> the public. The challenge for 2001 is to further develop the formula of
> the first edition of MUTEK and to retain its essence. Once again, the
> heart of the program will centre around five days of intense music and
> sound experimentation. With its international content, including a series
> of connected activities (such as conferences and demos), MUTEK 2001
> promises to be a unique event not to be missed. Program and venues will be
> unveiled during our press conference on April 3rd, 2001.
>
> MUTEK_MICRO
> In 2001, MUTEK will organise special evenings in the spirit of pursuing
> its mission all year round. These "micro" events will be the occasion to
> discover new talent or to re -experience some of the artists that have
> been hosted by MUTEK or by the FCMM in the past. The first of the series,
> MICRO I, will be presented on February 9th, at Studio Main (Just for
> laughs Museum, 2109 St-Laurent Blvd).
> Featured artists will be:
> - Kit Clayton (live), San Francisco
> - Monolake (live), Berlin
> - Deadbeat (live), Montreal
> - MUTEK DJs
> Tickets are 20$, 15$ for students, available starting January 29 at
> Ex-Centris (3536 St.-Laurent), Rotation (30 Prince-Arthur W.) and
> CDesoterik (1841 C St-Catherine W.), Cheap Thrills (2244 Metcalfe) and
> Atom Heart (364 B Sherbrooke E.).
