Re: [microsound] Re: more hafler trio
I rank the H30 among my favourite groups (besides Asmus Tietchens) of which
I collect everything. I once took part in a workshop with Andrew McKenzie
(in 1988, or 1987) in which he teached us about doing tape-loops, site
specific recordings, use of microphones etc. The workshop ended in a
concert in which he used the sounds we brought in. He did a sort of live
sound process playing-recording-playing back sounds adding sounds from
concertspace, audience etc. A sort of similar process used by Alvin Lucier
in 'I'm sitting in a room' but with sounds, rather then voice. I believe
that that process is the very basic of almost everything the H30 do. I've
met Andrew many times when he was living in Amsterdam and he is an amazing
guy. I wish he was back around here in Holland more (last time was late
1994). My personal faves of him are Bang an open letter, kill the king,
inoutof, but basically everything is great and I have to see an album that
disappoints me.
