it's not about what produces better music because that's entirely up to the
musician. writing the music on a dat is no different from prepping a guitar.
it is all done _before_ the live performance.

the actual "live" aspect of the performance was the point. the moment of
execution is in the case of a guitar, each note the guitarist plays. in the
case of the DAT, it is the moment that the musician presses play on the DAT
player.
