not at all, there are millions of ways microsound could be performed live. i
was just blasting the common practice of pretending to perform live, not
even necessarily in a microsound setting but in all styles of music. i
played at endfest last year and had the pleasure of being backstage for BT's
set where he turned pretend knobs and pushed pretend buttons while miming to
a DAT being played, for one example.

i also saw aphex twin and was extremely disappointed that he was apparently
doing nothing whatsoever, instead opting for the entertainment-by-bear
method by hiring 2 giant teddy bears to dance.

i saw nynex and was impressed that although he used a laptop with a song
sequencer, he played live keys and did some stuff live.

but compared to mehldau .....

if my cynicism disturbs you then give me a reason to be optimistic.
