o geez. hardly. it was a mere question. and a fair one
i believe. it was based on the fact that i have not
seen a post by jonah other than in this thread(though
i may be wrong). both this and the below post were a
reaction(possibly ill-advised) to jonah's unwilingness
to disassociate his personal tastes from the argument.
by making statements such as 'download such & such by
brad mehldau and listen to it's blah, blah , then tell
me of a piece of microsound that is as equally
effecting...' obviously i am paraphrasing and i
apologise...but it was to that effect. this fails to
separate personal preference from the basis of the
discussion, at that point the argument becomes moot. i
and a few other offered many examples of why some of
us think the computer is an acceptable
instrument(which jonah was seeking) only to be met by
the same preference laden response. my downfall was my
wilingness(at first) to try different approaches to
explain my view on the computers worth within live
music. it ended in sarcasm... and i apologise to the
list for dragging it on. now i think we should turn
our attention(to those who already haven't) to the
thread on Haider/politics in music. much more
worthwhile.
as for your run-on community college analysis of my
reasoning behind my argument, i got quite a good
belly-laugh out of it. martyrian mindset...hahaha, i
love it!
