hello we are io records.

io can be pronounced either eye-oh or eee-oh.

we are proud to announce the official launch of http://io-records.com 
coupled with the release of our first album 
devolution&&intimation.iteration[3] by translectronic_theory.

about io records:
we are an independent record label based out of pelham ny that specializes 
in digitally treated audio works. we release music that is both challenging 
and harsh yet at the same time, human, emotional and introspective. 
breaking music down to its purest element, sound, this element is used to 
its greatest potential as the compositions themselves. it's a theory where 
the whole is greater then the sum of the parts, but each part is in and of 
it self a whole.

about devolution&&intimation:
this album has been almost a year in the making. originally started in 
april of 2000, the original iteration of it was completed in july of 2000. 
upon reflection, the album didn't convey exactly what the artist was trying 
to get across, so it was put aside and work was begun again in late july of 
2000. over the next 7 months, work on the next two iterations was 
completed. what is now .iteration[3] of devolution&&intimation contains no 
compositions from the original iteration, but embodies everything that it 
was supposed to be.

about transelectronic_theory:
transelectronic_theory(aka rj valeo) has been composing and performing 
electronic music for over 10 years now but has shy'd away from ever 
releasing his material. with over 5 albums in limited private distribution, 
he has taken the final step and decided to bring his compositions out of 
the studio and into the world at large. part mad scientist, part coffee 
junkie and part sonic gorilla, he brings with him from the smokey depths of 
his studio all the sounds of the undithered world. using sound design 
treatments and processes, his compositions span from glassy resonant sheets 
of sound to turbulent storms of pixels and electronic dust.

we are in the process of putting together our second and third releases. 
the second release (untitled as of now) is a 140 gram clear vinyl 12" split 
release by marc mcnulty (of tiln [http://www.tiln.net]) and rj valeo (of 
transelectronic_theory). both artists are presently assembling the contents 
for each respective side of the release.

the the third release is a compilation cd featuring io artists from around 
the world. we are still accepting submissions for this release. the 
submission deadline is june 1st 2001. see our info page for insight into 
io's methodology and contact info.

we are have a promotion for list members only. we are giving away a copy of 
devolution&&intimation.iteration[3] to the first 8 people that respond to 
this email off list.
