about anyone other than his or her self? to do so is to be pandering to the
banal world of pop music? what a crock of self-indulgent bullshit. creating
a presentaion of your art in a medium beneficial to the experience thus
making it more enjoyable for everyone involved is the prime objective of an
artistic performance. this applies even if the goal is to disturb and annoy,
make it as disturbing and annoying as possible. i believe this attitude of
"fuck the audience,i'm an artist" is merely an excuse for mediocrity whether
you compose microsound, trance, bip-hop, jazz, pop music or whatever. even
people as infamous as miles davis for hating most of the audience members he
performed for took a great deal of time to sound check and try new equipment
to make a show sound better. this modern idea of selfishness and snobbery as
being synonymous with art is truly pathetic!
