Re: [microsound] completely OT yet so on-topic

american democracy is surely headed in the direction of right wing fascism,
and capitalism is certainly the driving force behind that momentum, however,
this is as much a reflection of global economics as it is the result of
american greed and complacency. socialist and/ or communist governments have
no historical track record of being any different. most european countries
while enjoying a more sophisticated way of life due mostly to better
education and smaller, more homogenous populations have fewer protections in
place for peoples basic rights than even the dreaded USA. the problem i see
in america is not one of capitalism destroying the fabric of democracy as
much as it is a move towards a strange fascist socialism sponsored by both
sides of the political aisle. there are higher tax rates and more government
agencies in existence in the US now than ever before in the history of this
country. our civil rights are being slowly but surely dismantled by an ever
growing federal authority which constantly undermines states' let alone
individual rights. this is text book socialism and it is being perpetrated
in this country at a frightening pace and seemingly unbeknownst to the
public as a whole. i feel the main problem in the US is that both the right
and left wings don't realize that they have a common enemy in the form of
the federal government. polarization of the political extremes in america
has enabled the government to gain power from both sides as they each
attempt to assert their power over the other through governmental channels
and legislation. what each side fails to realize is that when you give the
government power over one aspect of a citizens' life, say gun control for
instance, you open the door for laws to be passed in other arenas like the
loss of property rights or the loss of free speech rights. now for those of
you who don't see a connection i would point out that all three of those
issues are bill of rights issues in this country and that is unavoidable at
this point and to fuck with one is to fuck with them all. in summation i
would simply reiterate that the problem with america is not MERELY the
result of psychotic capitalist agendas as much as it is a move towards a
quiet but deadly form of fascist socialism. neither socialism nor communism
will save america, only people of all backgrounds realizing they have a
common enemy in DC and putting thier personal agendas aside to recreate real
political dialog in a competitive and success driven(both social and
financial as the two are inherently linked) will any productive democratic
change occur in the US.
