Re: [microsound] mp3 labels

vance,

i appreciate your thoughts very much. i also like fals.ch, but was focusing on it as an example of a political construct, only. :)

The below is true and good, but when one makes no choices about what goes on there "labels" as not to "influence it with there own ignorance." Then they leave the listener in an awkward position. If your label has no "sound" or "aesthetic" then isn't it just a microcosm of the internet? It does no filtering for the listener; thus weakening it's "reputation" (which may or may not be important). I really like fals.ch because they filter and have a sound. . . there may be politics there, but its free and I can go somewhere else to get a different sound. Without some filtering it becomes just holding space for mp3's (and we all seem to share a feeling about that (MP3.com anyone?))
Without sorting we are left in the same situation when there is no label. and I have a very slow connection to the internet, so I need to pick my MP3's with discursion.

my 2 cents. . .(but don't take them seriously if you are going to get mad)
