Greetings All,

I'll be near Tokyo next month for business, but will spend a week in Tokyo
from 9Jun -14Jun. I'm wondering if anyone on the list may have any
suggestions of events taking place, reliable clubs/venues that regularly
have experimental electronic music (or even great indie-rock type stuff).
I'll be all over Tokyo, but probably staying around Shinjuku.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Also, anyone living in Tokyo willing
to show a gaijin around for a day or night would be more than greatly
appreciated.

Cheers,
-Jerry

well....there isn't a worthwhile indie rock scene in tokyo as far as i know,
but i never really looked for one either, so i leave that exploration to
you. otherwise here's a list of some of the best spots to find out about and
or see something interesting.

Gallery Koyanagi (Ginza Eki) 03-3561-1896
Gallery Side 2 (Sendagaya Eki) 03-5771-5263
Wako Works of Art (Shinjuku Eki) 03-3373-2860

Masataka Hayakawa Gallery (Ebisu Eki) 03-5457-7991
Ota Fine Arts (Ebisu Eki) 03-3780-0911
Taka Ishii Gallery (Otsuka Eki) 03-3915-7784
Taro Nasu Gallery 03-3630-7759
Tomio Koyama Gallery 03-3630-2205
Mizuma Art Gallery (Omotesando Eki) 03-3499-0226
Watari-um (Shibuya or Omotesando Eki) 03-3402-3001
Spiral Hall (Omotesando Eki) 03-3499-3922 (event and gallery space)
Cay (Omotesando Eki) phone?-below Spiral Hall (fader/Headz events often take
place here)
Gallery 360 (Omotesando Eki) 03-3406-5823
Rontgen Kunstraum (Omotesando Eki) 03-3401-1466
Nadiff - (Omotesando Eki) 03-3403-8814 (art books, cds, cafe, gallery, art
goods, events-talk to igarashi -san)
Kurara Audio Arts (Shibuya Eki) never answers the phone so...- nogai -san
has a wonderful record collection for sale (exit Shibuya Eki - Hachiko exit-
walk towards Parco, it's the building left of Gap, go through the ground
level "parking lot" with 2 drink vending machines on the right, up the
stairs on the left, to the 2nd fl. and down on the end of the right
corridor, a small grey door. meme and the fader/Headz office in the
neighboring room with Atsushi.
Los Apnos (another similar record store in Shinjuku) & Bar Aoyama
(experimental live shows between Shibuya/Harajuku) are siimilar in that
they're hard to explain/find, ask nogai-san or atsushi how to get there,
maybe one of them could draw you a map.
if you go to the 5th fl. of Tower Records in Shibuya you will find the
experimental & ambient section which is not too amazing but they do have
some japan only releases and usually alot of flyers of events (japanese -
"live") taking place.
