Subject: Kit Clayton Re: [microsound] Greetings from DEMF

I think Sue does the visuals/video. In recent performances, Josh (Kit

Clayton) seems to prefer sitting where you'd normally place a sound/pa

person far out in front of the sound system where it can be heard best.

It makes a lot of sense especially in terms of his live composing (mixing

and manipulating multitracked cycles/patterns) and really hearing what is

going on (rather than using monitors). Plus, I'd imagine it makes any

connections between their laptops and the video equipment more manageable.

I kind of wish more laptop-based performances were like this, as I'd rather

the performer had more ideal conditions to hear what they were

doing/manipulating (and thus do it better) than be on stage, as there isn't

usually any reason for them to be on stage unless they have brought some

aspect of their music-making software into a physical interface of some

kind...
