Re: [microsound] MAX/MSP

greetings fellow apes,

speaking of max/msp, we finally finished this monster upgrade,
http://www.cycling74.com/products/maxmsp_new.html

yes porting is part of our current activities, no dates are established -
please understand this is a very deep system to port... as the above page
mentions, the current package weighs in at 400+ objects and 1500+ pages of
documentation, not counting all the help files, tutorials, or the rather
vast array of 3rd-party objects that can be found online.

we put mad amounts of work into this stuff, mostly just because it is fun.
max is developed in c and in max itself; as a contractor for c74 i spend a
lot of time in each, and have to say that i much prefer working in max when
possible. when i am making music, there is no question - i just don't have
the patience to deal with a text-based programming language, or anything
non-realtime if i am in that mode. but that's just me...

and these are just mine - my offhand opinions naturally. none of us "speak
for" c74 or whatever. although, i think it is c74's opinion (+mine), that
you should check out all the options that are available out there - ! as is
always the case. artists and musicians avail themselves of the tools at
hand. there is a whole page of links on the site for software that is
similar or related to max/msp.

more is in the works
