sound design & linux anyone?

hi, 

i have already included this question into my previous mail, but to i 
decided to make this a single mail anyway. i am just switching to 
linux, and i am quite fascinated. it does for example allow me to play 
two mp3 (or whatever) at the same time! i have been longing for this on 
windows. i am in the process of doing recearch on linux and sound, but 
if anyone knows of good starting points and would like to share ... my 
thankfulness will be yours. ;-)
