if memory serves me well, i think that pole's name comes from a waldorf
filter that he dropped or broke in some way. it probabally was a high pass,
or low pass or whatever, im not sure. the crackling sound that you hear on
his albums is the recorded sounds of this filter. anyhow, pole refers to the
amount of decibels that the filter reduces the amplitude of the signal per
octave. i would therefore be led to believe that the name pole relates to
the broken filter.
