miami bass questions

M'sound friends,

I've heard tell of Miami bass being a big early
influence on Autechre among many other groups, which
for whatever reason seesm strange to me; though I
imagine the problem is that I don't know a damned
thing about MB.  Are there contributions that the MB
style brought to the electronic/dance music table,
things that have found a wide influence outside
dance-music-proper?  I really am interested in a
microsound relevance; it seems liek there might be
some subtle and obvious connections, but I haven't a
clue.  Finally, are there any good comps of some of
the important early singles from that scene?
