perhaps you'd rather thank us for pointing out that your message was
ambiguous & could be easily misconstrued as racist.

myth or not, "primitive" has been shown to be an inaccurate term for
quite some time now, as there is nothing inherently "primitive" (as in
"insufficiently evolved") in the communities or people we have qualified
as such.

putting the word in quotes would imply that you are aware of its
negative connotations but couldn't find a better way of saying it.  most
people try to avoid the word altogether as a matter of civility.
