Re: [microsound] O Canada

Exactly why I made an important change in my personal art pratice about 3
years ago. I found my self out of peer pressure from other fellow candian
audio artists to have forgotten what I was doing and found my self wrapped
up in figuring out where my next grant was coming from. It was really
silly to be honest with you, after some time of thinking about it long and
hard I decided to leave the institutional arts community (ie art making
that is for the galleries and other funded arts orgs) and took my work to
a more DIY level of things. In doing so I have discovered a whole lot of
other artists who work in a similar manner, producing quality work with
out the help of public funding sources to squash thier creative process.
Toronto has a very healthy audio/sound/radio art community as does
Montreal. You should (if you have not already) come down to check it out
some time.
