repetition

Definitely this album. I woke up this morning thinking that I might not want
to listen to repetitive music ever again -- the endless looping of images
yesterday was enough for me for quite some time. "Heroin" is one of those
releases that does something interesting with repetition. Also see Ehler's
new "Plays Albert Ayler," a refreshingly non-loop-based work that's utterly
gorgeous. I don't mean to be flippant in this sort of shorthand
philosophical/aesthetic statement -- it's just really refreshing, especially
when looking at the media around us, and the techniques they use, to leave
the loop behind for a while.
