Re: [microsound] pc laptops and digital audio
so far, i've been using built-in sound (on powerbook &
wintel books). i'm looking at rme's hammerfall dsp rather
longingly right now, as i have the pci hammerfall and it's
amazing.
> who here uses pc laptops for live? what interface(or soundcard) do you use for your live output????
i have concern about the viability of VxPocket for the live
situation because of prohibitive latency reported by early
users. although since these early reports i'm sure digigram
have gone through several driver and perhaps even firmware
iterations. are you confident that it's responsive enough
for your live application? are you going to be processing
live input and treating it in realtime? this would seem to
impose something approaching double the latency you'd get
from pure d/a (output only) work.
