[microsound] performer & max/msp

what methods are used to get audio out of msp and into digital performer?
i'm aware of using the iac bus to transfer midi information to performer 
from max...can something similar be done with audio from msp?

is it feasible to run both at the same time on a new mac?

....i can always just save it as an aiff and import, but is there any 
other way?
