awakening from a clonky rest ... saturday october 20th 2001 [toronto, canada]: rechenzentrum, blotto and naw

wake up clonksters.............

clonk returns with yet another night of bleeding
edge electronic music:

on saturday october 20th 2001 clonk and the
legendary el mocambo
are proud to present from belguim, avant-technoists:
kitty yo recording artist:
rechenzentrum - performing a live pa.
supporting rechenzentrum on the el mocambo stage
will be:
special guest torontos very own:
blotto [mettel] - djing a few extended sets
and a returning live pa by clonk resident
naw [a/s systems.no type.rrr.ohm/avatar]

more details to follow in the following weeks
regarding ticket prices and advanced tickets.

what makes this night even more special then it
already is that there
is a good chance this maybe the last live event to
ever occur at the now
legendary el mocambo club. as some of you might
already know the el
mocambo was sold last week and the new owner has
some very drastic changes
for this now legendary live music venue. some of
these changes might
actually include the end of live music at the el
mocambo. in an interview
with dan burke [elmo booking agent] that appeared in
now magazine last
week burke was quoted:
"unfortunately, if the second floor becomes a dance
studio,
we'd lose the whole essence of the el mocambo. i've
been told
not to book anything upstairs past november 1st
2001."
is is obvious a tragedy waiting to happen, the el
mocambo has come to be
a cultural icon for live music in this city and this
purchases and
impending threat to the el mocambo could lead the
city to having one less
live venue from an already shrinking selection of
live music venues in
this city. not to mention the loss of a peice of
toronto live music
history. as a community of people who have on more
then one occasion
attended this now legendary venue for an electronic
music event or other
wise, I urge you to join us in letting our local
mpps and city councilors
know how we feel about this impending threat and to
help us to save this
now legendary live music venue.
