Re: [microsound] kyma5

kyma has never crashed my machine fully since early betas of 5
(4.9999) and since kyma 5 finial came out, it has been rock solid
all the way arround. kyma on the mac is only so slightly slower
than on windows until they finish the port to a different version of
smalltalk. it is mostly a screen redraw issue and does not
affect the performance of the capybara (the dsp engine.)

symbolicsound is also really good about updates. we are on kyma
5.17, with about an update a month since the release of 5.0.

as for benchmarks, those can be found in the lit on the website and
i have not experienced any thing to dispute them. performance
has also improved with kyma5 and updates. the kyma cannot do as
many filter banks as a softsynth on modern desktops because it has
a maximum of 10ms latency among other trade-offs in design. it
does however deal with realtime processing better than any
softsynth/desktop i've ever dealt with. also the a/d convertors
are stellar and, combined with the ASIO drivers, are wonderful in
replace of other audio I/O units.
