oh brother.... ok Ill make sure to book you headlining along
side other entertainers like sammy davis junior and engelbert
humperdink and bob hope...
;)
ghhheezee... you should read that line out loud to your self youll quickly
realise how that sounds to others...

oh give me a break cry me a river...
ever heard of cancelling a gig??? That is on your own shoulders...
what did you want the promoture to provide a sponge bath and a round the
clock nurse also...
I know Ive cancelled gigs befor becasue I was sick I traveled all the way
to cleveland a few years ago on a bus (12 hours) and by the time I got
there I had a
full blown flu I cancelled the gig and went strait to bed....
what ever... I have no pitty for that no one held a gun to your head to
play...

here is the prime problem....
microsound and superstar djs are no the same if you want to get paid what
superstar djs get paid your in the wrong buisness...
start making music that is palitable and start playing big clubs or raves
where the ticket prices are at minimum 20 dollars USD and have at minimum
1000 persons show up and pay to get in. your comparing apples with
oranges.. you cont do that mircosound music does not nearly have the same
appeal that what a big time dj and thier music might have.
2000 is a compleatly insane amount of money to even fathom being able to
some how sort out some one doing as obsure music as that...
I really think you need to get booked in Canada particularly Toronto and
see what its like.. pita didnt even draw more then 50 people...
at 10 dolars a head I dont even know how the music gallery was able to
cover his costs to bne honest with you....
I think they lost money on that show...

>i am just tired of the now cliched punk/diy reference (tho jake gets at

Im equally tired of seeing obsure artists living in a bubble obblivious to
reality that with out the market to support it there is no way any one is
goign to pay out ragious amounts of money unless the event has a govt
grant in place to bring in such things other wise the regular promoture
cant do it. Trust me I have lost my shirt many times tring to do this it
does not work... people will not go out for the sale of going out or
because some one wrote a good review of some one they never heard of
befor..... not to mention people will not pay more then 10 dollars to see
them regardles of if they know the artist or not..
dam I think at the mirco mutek that kim, taylor and richard played at they
was no more then 75 people in the room... sad but true..

as for sleazy promotres there will be sleazy people always no matter what
music or "entertainment" gener you look at but its the nice guys who get
fucked in the edn by your bad experences with these sleezy people..
I have never asked any one to knock down a price once agreed apon the
contract is signed and is never broken...
ask any one who has played for me befor...
they all get what they ask for from the biggining but if they are a pig to
begin with they dont get booked...
;)
Neil..
