it astounds me to think that there are people in this world who believe that no one bent a string before bb king. anyone comfortable perpetuating such a myth would be wise to educate themselves in non-western musical traditions.
that sort of myth is right in line with the midirected ownership of innovation placed on individuals and groups who popularize a particular approach. as long as there have been strings, they have been bent, in one way or another, literally and figuratively.
