a chatty 15 of the Top 10

The RTQE list is done. It's skewed by the possibility
that I'm completely stupid for passing over the reissue
of Biosphere's "Substrata" or Cornelius Cardew's "The
Great Learning" (on Organ of Corti) for a bunch of
N-th century Chinese classical music. I may also be a
complete fool for not putting any of the wonderful c74
releases for this year on this list because I have, in no
small measure, been involved with the label - I plead
my midwestern upbringing's bizarre rules of false
propriety for this (and the fact that I'd be hard pressed to
choose a "best" outta that diverse lot). The rest are in
alphabetical order.

Autechre "Confield" Warp
Richard Chartier "Decisive Forms" Trente Oiseaux
Kit Clayton "Lateral Fault (Surface Features)" Vertical Form
Anja Garbarek "Smiling and Waving" Virgin
Joseph Holbrooke "Joseph Holbrooke '98" Incus
Monolake "Cinemascope" ml/[i]
Adrian Moore "Traces" Empreintes DIGITALes
Robert Rich "Bestiary" Relapse
Eric Glick Rieman "Ten to the Googolplex" Accretions
Rosa Ensemble "Troubling for Sugar" NM Classics
Set Fire to Flames "Sings Reign Rebuilder" Alien8
Tortoise "Standards" Thrill Jockey
various artists "Between Two Points" 12k/L-NE
various artists "Guanglin Qin Music" (reissue) HUGO
Bugge Wesseltoft "Moving" Jazzland

If I'd gone to 20 of the top 15, Donnacha Costello,
the Jellinek, Kaija Saariaho, Radiohead, and Janek
Schaefer would be staring at you.

This "top anything" stuff is odd; I started doing it
on my radio show because listeners started calling
me up before Christmas wanting a list of stuff to
buy their friends. Your mileage may vary, etc.

with regards,
gregory

PS. The Carl Stone/Tetsu Inoue on c74 is out! It makes
a perfect Microsound bookend with Kim Cascone's
"Dust Theories" on c74 <end spamlet>
