Hmm,

In jMax there is a key object which you can get keyboard stuff from
(from there its a small lookup to a midi keyboard - or if you are silly
you can type the alphabet to get a chromatic scale). Max has a MouseState
object as far as I know. CPS has something similar too.

I know jMax is more a brother or sister - it was more a turn of phrase. Its
not just linux anymore it runs on windows.
