thanks for all the suggestions and info on surround sound. the wendy carlos 
page told me that everything i knew about quad systems is totally wrong! (in 
her humble opinion...) stephan, that is a really nice installation you 
showed us. my own surround installation will be working with a similar 
idea... to create an environmental, immersive sound field. the difference is 
that it will be based on making tangible the various electromagnetic 
radiations in the room. i'll keep y'all posted.

this is amazing, but also not so suprising when you think about it. the 
acoustic dimensions, resonances and standing waves of the room have remained 
unchanged. playing the beach boys or operating a blower still elicites the 
same response from these physical characteristics. (maybe that means that 
Cranegie Hall will make me sing like Pavorotti...)
