Re: [microsound] emotions in music



Well, I have to say first off that there is a lot of emotional input into
my own work, whether it be microsound or otherwise.  I do though, believe
that emotional background or level of "humanity" is not a valid way to
criticize music.  What I mean is that I can personally not like something
because I can't relate to it emotionally, but that is a problem with me
and not the music.  I do also appreciate the asthetic of a calculus text
book, even though I'm one of those undergrads that gets scared shitless
from it.  (as a side note, I love the theory behind mathematics but I lack
the mind to put it into practice).

Anyways when it all boils down to it I believe that it would be arrogant
for me to assume or expect any music to connect with me.  It would also be
lazy.  I also think that there are other important things in the grand
scheme than people.  And humanity is only one of many available things to
explore.  It's too bad that there isn't more art that's less human.  We
think and assume to much of ourselves.
