Re: the McDonna proj

 As someone fascinated by the McDonna Project as well as as someone
who knew Madonna both before and just after she began her 'ascent' and knows
a bit of 'how she thinks',
I offer some comments/observations/sugg :

* re. Legal issues. As long as you keep it on microsound,
and no $ are being made, and the samples are short (4 sec or less) -
no one should get into any (serious) trouble.
Of course, maybe some should submit their mixes to the official Remix site
anyway just for the f**k of it as well if they like.

*re. Her take on the proj. As an artist who is always looking for ways to be
'relevant', she will appreciate the idea of the remaking of her music.
Her Companies / Label's may take a diff view, and may try to either co-opt
or stop, if and when they find out.
You know how that goes...
I would say one reason she (and by extension, her label(s)) are doing a
'Remix' thing at all is that she one day took notice of the attention and
'street cred' Bjork has gotten for her remixes and she wants some of that to
rub off on her.
She who is always, aah - 'reinventing herself'.

* re. Mutation.
Very important to the ongoing stream.
No doubt the host will survive - and may get another press item out of it.
The joy expressed over the prospect of 'eating the host' and mutating it is
great to see.
It's an American way.
And when i saw the word mutation pop up in one of the posts,
I was reminded of an (unreleased) remixed toon I did bk in '95 called
"TheDominatrixMadonnaDonnaMatrix" in which part of the lyric chanted
'scarification, mutation'.
Let it flow /the flesh must go >

* Corporate Globalization & Globalization
Yes, let's please watch those 'terms'.
Alot of what the 'Imperialists' 'push out' is surely accepted,
loved (like a bad burger, sure, but ...), anticipated and digested by that
worldwide audience.
If they don't want it, they don't have to buy it.
And if the local artists got something to say, no excuse to not be getting
it out these days .
An ounce of action/production/results = many pounds of SemioT (sorry ST)
Books from the '80's and '90's.
And much more fun.
Someone said once ,'there are those who do - and those who review'.

* re: Britney
Actually, it was Madonna who was wearing the Britney T shirt during a recent
'performance'.

*If and when she finds out about the 'McM' proj, be prepared.
Knowing that she did seek out and contact The Boards Of Canada about doing a
remix for her not too long ago (and as u may have heard -they turned her
down) - I wouldn't be surprised to see her incorp a 'microsound' remix
(authentic or sound alike by whatever Euro remixer she deems hip enough)
on a future release.
Shudders ... (but also recombinant change bubbling up)

* For Kim.
I'd like to see if microsound would be interested in doing a 'Listen in' @
Harvestworks in NYC with your selection of the results ...
Harvestworks.org

Also interested in finishing the gesture by creating a CG performing
'virtual character to 'perform' the MCD (and beyond) remakes

Cheers
Best regards
