Re: the McDonna proj

The McDonna Project is a particularly interesting one.
As someone who knew Madonna before and just after she ascended
I offer some comments/observations/sugg :

* re. Legal issues. As long as you keep it on microsound,
and no $ are being made, and the samples are short (4 sec or less) -
no one should get into any (serious) trouble.

*re. Her take on the proj. As an artist who is always looking to (try to)
remain 'relevant', she will appreciate the idea of the remaking of her
music.
Her Companies / Label's may take a diff view, and may try to either co-opt
or stop, if and when they find out.
You know how that goes...

One reason she (and by extension, her label) are doing a 'Remix' thing at
all is that she one day took notice of the attention and 'street cred'
Bjork has gotten for her remixes and she wants some of that to rub off.
She who is always, aah - 'reinventing herself'.

* re. Mutation.
Very important to ongoing stream.
No doubt the host will survive - and may get another press item out of it.
The joy expressed over the prospect of 'eating the host' and mutating it is
great to see.

* Corporate Globalization & Globalization
Yes, please watch those 'terms'.

* re: Britney 
Actually, it was Madonna who was wearing the Britney T shirt during a recent
'performance'.

*If and when she finds out about the 'McD' proj, be prepared.
Knowing that she did seek out and contact The Boards Of Canada about doing a
remix for her not too long ago (and they turned her down) -
wouldn't be surprised to see her incorp a 'microsound' remix
(authentic or a knock off sound alike by whatever flavor - of - the - moment
remixer deemed hip enough) on a future release.
Initial shudders - but that's recombinant change bubbling up

* For microsound people
Like to see if microsound would be interested in doing a 'Listen in'
@ Harvestworks in NYC with your selection of the McDonna results ...

Also to inform all that while it's too late for the Artist In Residence and
Van Leer grants slots for this year, 2003 is coming soon.

In the future . Would be interested in creating a CG/ MAX
'virtual character to 'perform' the MCD (and beyond) remakes

* Yesterday we got a Japanese online 'mag mag' ms re:
A Japanese woman who has been living in LA who was often confused when
people there would say 'McDonald's' - with their intonation
(and her perception) she thought they were saying 'Mcdonna' and vice versa .
Only on this planet ...
