Re: software synthesizers
kim says:
anybody who doesn't buy into different software synths sounding different:
we did an A/B comparison between a Bitheadz softsynth and Generator (what
it was called before it was named Reaktor) years ago at Staccato...we were
astounded by the difference...the Bitheadz oscillators were poorly
band-limited and had an overall "muddy" quality (phase smear in the
filters?)...Generator sounded pristine and had a very clear sound-stage in
comparison...
it all in the math!
i was wondering the same thing the other day about computer
platforms.. (without getting into a mac vs. PC debate please...) is
there any difference in the D/A converters of macs or various PC
computers... or even between different mac models?
i can picture someone saying.. "oh, i use PC's because they sound warmer" :)
has anyone ever tested the various D/As of systems?
